New Look & New Art

Well it has kind of been a bummer of a day because I woke up with a cold (4 days before the big race), but it was productive around the blog because I was able to update the look. What do you think??

A few weeks ago, there was an art show on Hyde Park Square here in Cincy. Patrick and I picked up our very first piece of art (together) for our place. Here's a closer look:

Coloring

From the talents of German artist Horst Gläsker comes this colorful display that totally blows my mind. The contrast of the vibrant color and the traditional architecture caught my eye immediately.

Thanks a Latte

Happy Saturday morning! Are you enjoying a nice cup of coffee or a latte this morning? Don't you wish that your coffee looked like this? You KNOW this latte was made with a lot of love because it has the heart to prove it.

Have a happy day today!

Monday + Carnival

Happy Monday! How are you doing? It was a good weekend for me--went shopping on Friday night, taught some Pilates classes on Saturday morning, went shopping AGAIN (i don't get to go that often...that's my excuse for two trips in two days), this time to the outlets north of Cincinnati (by the way, if there is a Banana Republic Factory Store near you, get there before June 11th because they are having some crazy good sales!), celebrated Patrick's birthday on Saturday night, then had a lazy Sunday that ended with a potluck at church (aren't those the best!?). My weekends usually are pretty laid back--when I wrote all this down though, it seems like I packed in a lot!

Here are some lovely photos to brighten your Monday from the awesome bomobob etsy shop. All the Catholic churches close by are hosting carnivals, so I thought it was appropriate! He also blogs here. While I found his work browsing through etsy, apparently the people at Apartment Therapy liked what they saw too--way to go and congratulations on that feature!

{Repurposing}

I just started a twitter account for Bella Card Company (plug: follow here!) and started following some people/companies whose blogs are currently in my reader. I loved this article about reinventing things with DIY projects around the house that @ihearthandmade retweeted from @SunsetMag.

My personal favorites from the article were:

Plates become wall art...an artistic twist on displaying plates individually as art themselves--why not create a beautiful display using the plates collectively?

I've been looking for a traditional coat rack for some time now, so I really like this idea--a piece of driftwood becomes a place to hang your coat or bag. Looks very Pottery Barn-esque to me. Now if only I lived close to the ocean to find such a piece!

This is a terrific idea--utilizing a sliding closet area as a little office. I don't have any closets like this, but if I did, I think I know what I would do with it!

Simply gorgeous and elegant--but it's just a wire basket with a few votives and decorative accessories added! Lovely!

And this one is just some calendar images that were matted and framed. You could do this with anything--including cute little cards (like the ones I sell in my shop!)

Hope your week has been a good one!
